I have been looking for a long time for shopping cart software that is search engine friendly and customizable. I believe I have finally found it. The feature list if very impressive, and you can't beat the cost.

Sales reporting seems to be a weakness of Magento, also batch order processing, but other then that it really does seem to be very powerful.

Completely agree about the Multi-site feature of Magento - it is fantastic. I use this feature, and power 7 different looking sites on 7 domains, all through the one admin system - easy to manage, a really incredible product!

There are many great things about magento but one downside is that unless it's hosted on specifically configured and high powered hosting it can be dog slow. I wouldn't consider using it on cheap shared hosting ever.

The best thing to me is that magento is open source and don't forget their new API

Agree with much of what you say.

However I have to disagree with your analysis that Magento handles Order Management well....it doesn't.

Please see this post for more of my thoughts: http://www.magentocommerce.com/boards/viewthread/20813/

Thanks for the great post. Everybody says how great Magento is but I've been looking for real life feedback exactly like this post.

Thanks again for the info.
